Real music on Neopets

Everyone loves a nice lookup. Or a petpage. Or a shop. It's something to be proud of. Flashy fonts and colorful backgrounds, tables and blogs make a nice lookup. One thing that makes a bad lookup? Real Music.

What does that mean exactly? Music with words or non midis. Midis are fake remakes of songs that are made with artificial instruments on a computer or a keyboard. An mp3 or a wave file. That real music is bad, and for many reasons.

Imagine yourself on the Fan Club boards. You decide to enter a Rate Your Lookup Board and you're real casual. You aren't really paying attention to the person in charge that you have to rate in return. You're listening to music and it's a song you really like. You click on the link to the userlookup and suddenly, through your speakers, bursts out Jesse McCartney. A clip from some WalMart webpage or something. It tottally clashes with the Rolling Stones song you're listening to. Angry, you give the person a low score, hardly noticing the lookup, no matter how good or bad it is.

This is problem. It's really annoying in the way that the music is usually not very long and on repeat, so even if you do stay to look at the lookup and rate it, you have to keep hearing the same clip over and over again. Also, what if you're at home and you don't know that the  volume is all the way up, or up kinda loud, but you aren't playing any music, and suddenly this music blasts out of your speakers, scaring the bejeezus out of you. It's really rude.

Not only rude, but most likely illegal. This music is taken from another webpage. This webpage paid for the rights to the music because they sell it. You are taking this music. It's a bootleg, basically. If you are hosting this music, it's worse. You are taking this music, stealing it, and distributing it, like it's yours.

If you really like this artist, you shouldn't be destributing his/her music for free. They don't make any money then, and they are less likely to make more albums.
